Javy Vazquez, I think I love you

Unfortunately, no one else does.

Javy Vazquez, aka Mr. Unappreciated, is not just having an All-Star worthy first half, but he’s having a Cy Young worthy season. Yet he’s not on the National League All-Star team roster while Jason Marquis (the same Marquis with a 4.07 FIP) is. Not only that, but Javy couldn’t even make the team as a replacement, with Zach Duke getting the nod.

So I figured, lets take a look at Javy’s stats and compare them to a pitcher on the team. Lets say, Ted Lilly, so I can make  a point.

Javy: 119 IP, 10.29 K/9, 1.74 BB/9, 5.91 K/BB, .76 HR/9, 2.50 FIP, 2.97 tRA, 4.0 WAR

Teddy: 119 IP, 7.64 K/9, 1.82 BB/9, 4.21 K/BB, 1.29 HR/9, 3.83 FIP, 3.44 tRA, 2.2 WAR

The stats say it all. Javy Vazquez has been dominant thus far and deserves a spot on the All-Star team, especially since he has been better than some (err, most) pitchers who have been selected to go. The only question more glaring than why is Javy Vazquez not an All-Star is, why do I continually call him Javy?

Javy is the man. The worst trade Cashman ever made and it still haunts him is the Vazquez for Randy Johnson fiasco.
