Ken Griffey Jr to retire

Ken Griffey Jr has finally retired after a 22 year career that spanned four decades.

His retirement comes on a sad note. Sad because an all-time great has retired, but also sad because of the current baseball state he is retiring in.

In the 90’s, few were as good as Griffey and none were as electrifying. Despite slaying my heart in the 1995 ALDS, Griffey will always be a favorite player of mine- from the backwards hat to the smooth swing to the video game and sneakers.

Hopefully I can post a more meaningful write up later, but for now I wish Griffey good luck in the future.

And, Ken Griffey, thank you being a baseball lifer, for giving your all despite a career that tailed off due to injuries. Thank you playing the game clean (I assume), and thank you for entertaining this fan of yours for years and years.

Thank you.

PS- Why couldn’t you retire a month from now? I bought Yankee/Mariners tickets JUST to see you play. Or at least hit BP homers.
